by Lincoln Schatz
Department of Defense, Department of State
Lincoln Schatz, a renowned contemporary American artist best known for works that utilize video to collect and display images from specific environments, is creating a video-art portrait incorporating selected images, audio and video from the day-to-day life of current and former military and foreign service member’s serving overseas. The final work will be installed in the U.S. Embassy in Kabul after it tours other national and international venues including The Pentagon, State Department and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in the fall of 2012.
This unique Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of State (DOS) collaboration is in conjunction with the office of ART in Embassies (AIE), celebrating 50 years of international cultural exchange and will be available on the DOD, DOS and AIE websites.
